What is a noun?
A noun is the name of a person, place, thing, idea, or animal.
Examples: teacher, city, book, freedom, dog.
Types of nouns covered:
- Common nouns — general names for people, places, or things.

Quick rules and tips
1. Proper nouns are capitalized: Paris, Sara, Microsoft.
2. To make most nouns plural, add -s (dog → dogs) or -es for words ending in -s, -x, -sh, -ch, -z (box → boxes, dish → dishes).
3. For nouns ending in consonant + y, change y → -ies (lady → ladies). If vowel + y, just add -s (toy → toys).
4. Irregular plurals must be memorized; practice with common ones first (man/men, child/children, mouse/mice, person/people, foot/feet).
